The shirt has HercCopper, our specialized copper fiber, woven directly into the fabric. It is known for helping reduce odor and bacteria at the source, which is why the freshness tends to hold up for the life of the product.
If you want it to last years, then wash it in cold water, without fabric softeners or any of that marketing BS. Dry on low or medium heat, or hang dry. That's basically it. It isn't like merino wool, it doesn't need special treatment.
Let's put it this way, we've had people wear the V1.0 shirt for over 100 days back in 2020 during Covid, so when we say the V5.0 Max can do 10 days, that's us being humble. Theoretically, 365 days of freshness without washing the V5.0 Max is fully possible.
Honestly, comparing even our V1.0 shirt from 2020 to merino wool is a little disrespectful. That's like comparing a bicycle to a car. Most modern merino wool is superwashed (look it up if you don't know), which makes it not nearly as great as it used to be and puts it miles behind even our first shirt.
